In our successful season so far, it has been a tale of two teams. The rampant Ealing Boys on the road, and the not so rampant at home! This match marked our 4th home loss out of a possible 5, contrasted by our 4/6 wins away.
It would be only Simon who would come away with anything in the end, who did his part rather quickly.
My own game was a fairly even affair until my revered opponent Richard James needlessly gave up the exchange. I had everything under control in the endgame, until a brutal miscalculation turned a win into a traumatic loss.
Hristo had similar heartbreak in his game: “Sorry Xavier, it was a total disaster for me as well! I decided to start playing French instead of Scandinavian, and that was my first game. Actually, I don’t think I played that badly, I just don’t feel very comfortable with the French yet, but I’m determined to give it a go.”
Three matches left, let’s see if we can finish well to dull the memory of this scoreline…
